- Turn things off: Standby buttons still use electricity. This means the television, your phone, charger, stereo, DVD. Everything.
- Recycle: Everything you can, and store the stuff up to avoid making loads of car trips.
- Freecycle products: www.freecycle.org. Share and swap with mates, go to the library, rent that DVD.
- Stop bathing: Have a shower instead. One bath and 6 showers per week can save 200kg of CO2 per year.
- Avoid packaging: Don't buy things with lots of packaging. You could save up to 1/2 a ton of CO2 per year this way.
- Say No to junk mail: Get off the lists and help to reduce the 1 million trees felled daily to create junk mail.
- Fly Less: Take the train. Holiday in the UK.
- Turn the heating down: By 1 degree. Wash on 30 degrees. This will help you save money.
- Drive less: Walk somewhere, or take the train. Some trains are up to 50% more CO2 efficient than driving.
Enjoy doing it: It's not so much of a bind, and if we all do a little bit, then a lot can be achieved.
