Offset Standards

These two standards stand above the rest. They mean the projects are verified in operation. These standards have rigorous tests, which projects must comply with before they are accepted.

The Gold Standard Voluntary Carbon Standard

The Gold Standard V.E.R has been modelled on the Kyoto Clean Development Mechanism and endorsed by 47 major aid agencies including the WWF and Greenpeace. The focus is on renewable energy projects.

The Climate Group, the International Emissions Trading Association, and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development created the Voluntary Carbon Standard. This has a wider project type then the Gold standard VER, allowing for technology development.
