Indian Wind Power

Project Location: Maharashtra State, India.

Project Type: Renewable energy: Wind.

Project Status: Project in operation and awaiting GS VER approval.

Project Description:

The project activity consists of the installation of wind turbines with 1.25 MW capacity each, amounting to a total of 10 MW generation capacity on two different sites in Dhule district, State of Maharashtra. The employed technology is still comparatively new. Carbon credits are necessary for project financing.

Methodology:

Used to calculate the baseline is the UN approved AMS-ID “Grid connected renewable electricity". The DOE Spanish Association is verifying the project for Standardisation and Certification (AENOR).

Additional benefits:
  • Situated in the rural area, it promotes rural electrification, thereby contributing towards sustainable development.
  • Promoting energy generation from renewable sources is a means of combating India’s chronic electricity shortfalls.
  • During construction, operation and maintenance of the wind turbine generators, employment opportunities are created in an area with very limited job possibilities.
  • The project will contribute to the reduction of the mass exodus to urban areas and the connected social problems.
